Short Project Description
The project by Bagrem d.o.o. focuses on implementing new technological solutions in the production and work processes through investments in an integrated wood drying system and the installation of renewable energy sources, aiming to introduce energy efficiency that contributes to reduced energy consumption, lower operating costs, and less negative impact on the climate and environment.
The project includes the following activities:
- Investment in energy efficiency measures
- Investment in the promotion of renewable energy sources
- Project management
- Information and visibility
The project involves the implementation of a biomass-based integrated wood drying system, which includes a shredder and a silo for storing wood waste to ensure a sufficient amount of fuel for thermal energy production. Additionally, a 135 kW solar power plant will be built on the roofs of the company’s existing business facilities.
Objectives and Expected Results
- Improved energy efficiency of the wood drying process by reducing energy consumption and transitioning to a circular economy
- Use of renewable energy sources (RES) to reduce business costs and transition to green energy sources
- Reduction of harmful CO2 emissions contributing to pollution control and environmental protection
- Strengthening the local and regional competitiveness of the company
By introducing the biomass-based wood drying system, Bagrem d.o.o. contributes to the circular economy by using wood residues as renewable energy instead of waste. The construction of a photovoltaic power plant will reduce the company’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
The implementation of this project will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions, directly contributing to the environmental goals of the Call and of the European Union—pollution control, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation.
